McClure Family Notes

  • Please pray for all those in our congregation who require special care and those who are shut-in and can no longer attend weekly services.

  • If you know of someone from the congregation who is ill, in hospital, or has experienced a bereavement, please let the office know as well as Anne Motriuk (204-269-7724) so she can send out a card as soon as possible

Office Practices

The office will be closed September 17 & 18 and will re-open Wednesday, September 24. Regular office hours are Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Please advise the office of any changes in vital information so that our records remain up to date.

Rev. Heather Sandilands will be in the McClure church office on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesdays each week. If you would like to speak to Heather and are unable to reach her at the office number, you may call her cell at (204) 264-0933. As always, the office answering machine will be monitored for messages.

Official Board Meeting

Tuesday, September 16 at 2:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Loose Change Pot

Located in the foyer.

All funds collected will be sent to Siloam Mission to help purchase much-needed clothing items for their guests.

If you’re not able to collect change but would still like to contribute, please mark “Siloam Mission” on your envelope. We have collected $149.85 to date.

Community Support

In addition to your support for our congregational expenses, please keep in mind McClure’s ongoing efforts to assist the less fortunate in our city.

On the third Sunday of each month, we receive donations of non-perishable foods — in September for West Broadway Community Ministry (WBCM).

WBCM provides:

  • A safe, accepting environment with services and programs that support people’s physical and emotional needs.

  • A supper program, emergency food pantry, and family-support programming (especially for those expecting or raising preschoolers).

  • Advocacy and mentorship to help community members navigate systems and gain experience and connections to thrive.

To make a monetary donation, please mark “West Broadway Community Ministry” on your envelope.

Special Offering – World Communion Sunday (October 5)

Our Special Offering this quarter will go to the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre (BNC), specifically supporting the Fuel4School Lunch Program for kids aged 6–17.

Lunches are distributed for children to take home, ensuring no child goes without food for school. A typical lunch includes fruit, veggies, granola bars, pudding or fruit salad, juice boxes, and a sandwich or wrap.

Please mark “October Communion” on your envelopes and indicate the amount you wish to give.

Scent-Free Congregation

Please remember that some members are allergic or sensitive to fragrances. We ask everyone to avoid using scented products (perfume, hair spray, etc.) during church functions so our space remains healthy for all.

Donations to McClure UC via E-Transfer

E-transfers can be sent to mcclure@mts.net.

To receive a tax receipt (for yearly donations of $20 or more), please include your name and mailing address.

Be sure to indicate how you would like your donation designated (e.g. Current Fund, M&S, etc.). If no designation is provided, funds will be applied to the general account.

Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR)

PAR makes year-round support of McClure UC easy and convenient, providing stability for our programs and ministries through monthly automatic deductions.

If you would like to enroll, please contact Edith in the office during office hours. All PAR submissions must go through the office.

Ongoing Collections

Please remember to bring:

  • Postage stamps and aluminum drink tabs (collected by Edith Dyck for her home church)

  • Sample-sized toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc.)

  • Used eyeglasses for collection at the church
